The Consequences of Excessive Vegetable Production

Using a survey-interview method on 50 randomly selected farmers, the study intends to report effects of excessive vegetable production in barangay farmers’ economic conditions, traditional practices, interactions, and environment. The respondents were composed 52% middle-aged 28% young 20% elderly farmers; 76% male 24% female. Economically, cultivation has increased financial capability, provided source income for others, made others reliant supply system, caused accumulate debt. Traditional farming methods abandoned. Furthermore, soil loosening, pesticide waste disposal issues, biodiversity loss owing agricultural expansion, conversion rice fields farms that lead endangerment other species, emergence non-beneficial organisms. In addition, Amuyo system was enhanced, non-involvement social functions, farmer conflicts linked activities. It is recommended concerning conditions soils all should be conducted; elimination insect causes rotting fruits fruit trees; carrying out training sustainable practices environmental issues; formation organization cooperatives; establishment conservation area indigenous species; creation product development facility; undertake similar with larger research respondents.
